Hedwig Bollhagen’s cake pan, model number “548,” might well have been taken out of the oven by your great-grandmother. This glazed Gugelhupf pan, fired at 1,070 degrees Celsius, not only looks incredibly decorative on a kitchen shelf but can also withstand oven heat. Its characteristic feature is the rounded cauldron shape with a chimney-like opening in the center. With a diameter of 15 centimeters, the six-and-a-half-centimeter-tall baking pan is more than twice as wide as it is tall. And with a capacity of 0.3 liters, the 490-gram baking pan produces a small but all the more delicate bundt cake. Add a candle on top, and the birthday surprise is ready.
