The container with the model number “481” by Hedwig Bollhagen is also known as a bread bin among the staff at the ceramics factory in Marwitz. This timelessly simple, two-piece set consisting of a container and a lid was a staple of everyday design in the former GDR and is now being rediscovered by design enthusiasts. Characteristic features include the rectangular-oval, bulbous body of the container and the upwardly bulging lid with its attached, cone-shaped handle. With a height of 14.5 centimeters, a width of 20 centimeters, and a volume of two and a half liters, the 481 bread bin is one of the larger ceramic pieces in the Hedwig Bollhagen collection. Whether it’s loaf bread, baguettes, or country-style crusty bread, this elegantly shaped bread bin offers a sustainable and hygienic storage solution and is a must-have in any design-loving kitchen.
