Hedwig Bollhagen’s cream pitcher, model number “503,” is somewhat reminiscent of a lotus bud or even Aladdin’s magic lamp. For this reason, employees at the Marwitz Ceramics Manufactory affectionately dubbed this little pitcher the “Dschinni” cream pitcher. Its rather flat, bulbous body is a defining feature. With a diameter of no less than twelve centimeters, the vessel—which is only four and a half centimeters tall—is wider than it is tall. With a capacity of 0.15 liters, the 190-gram vessel is neither too small nor too large. The generous handle and the diametrically opposite, outward-curving spout with its drip-proof spout harmoniously round out the design.
