Hedwig Bollhagen’s colander, model number “602,” is, strictly speaking, a fruit bowl with a colander insert, whose built-in water chamber serves as a draining tray for freshly washed fruit. Its defining features are the straight, cylindrical base with the integrated water collection basin and the raised ceramic plate with its straight, cylindrical rim. With a diameter of 27 centimeters and a height of eight centimeters, the colander bowl is more than three times as wide as it is tall. With a capacity of one and a half liters, the 1.31-kilogram bowl is one of the largest in the Hedwig Bollhagen collection. Beauty and function need not be mutually exclusive. The 602 colander combines both.
