The espresso cup with the shape number "558" by Hedwig Bollhagen convinces with its simple and clear shape. With a capacity of 0.1 liters, the five-and-a-half centimeter high and equally wide espresso cup is probably one of the smaller ones in the ceramic assortment of the Marwitz manufactory. Characteristic of the two-piece set of espresso cup and saucer are the straight-lined, cylindrical shape of the body and the simple, unadorned ear handle. At the bottom, the vessel finds a firm hold in the circular opening of the espresso plate. The 558 espresso cup is a variation of its sister the 558 demitasse cup and differs by having a semi-circular base inside, which allows for a perfect crema. With it, the favorite drink of the Italians can hardly be served more stylish.
