Design classics among themselves: Hedwig Bollhagen in the VitraHaus
In the VitraHaus, the flagship store of the Swiss furniture manufacturer, the visitor experiences the great classics from Vitra and the latest designs by contemporary designers with the help of changing interiors in different styles - arranged by designer greats such as Jasper Morrison.
Vitra has been building furniture for Charles & Ray Eames and George Nelson since 1957. They are part of the groundbreaking design of the 20th century. Four products from the HB workshops in Marwitz are now on display in the VitraHaus.
In the current staging in Level 2, Antonio Citterio's Grand Sofà is the focal point of the staging. The furnishings interpret the apartment of a fictional resident. Albert, a former animal researcher, loves design classics and has furnished his living and dining area with a mix of different classics. His chosen treasures also include two vases, an orange peel and a small jar - all from the HB Ritz collection. Albert has decorated them all on the elegant Eames Coffee Table. "We are delighted that Vitra has chosen us as part of its new installation about design classics," says Alexander Grella, owner of Hedwig Bollhagen Werkstätten (HBW). You have to hand it to him: Albert really has an eye for the special.
